How to select the right Home Care Kit for your cross-breed.

The Groomer’s Secrets Home Care Kits have been designed to meet the coat and healthcare needs of your dog. Most dogs fall within six main coat types.
You may be wondering just exactly what you need to consider when choosing the correct Home Care Kit for your cross breed. Well, surprisingly enough, exactly the same as if he/she were a pedigree!
You need to take into account the size of your dog, coat type (don’t worry I’m coming to that!) and any special coat or skin care requirements. If you already know the parentage of your dog, then you will be able to recognise the similarities between them. You will also be able to see if your dog favours one parent more than the other with regard to size, coat type, colour etc.
For those of you who don’t know the parentage of your dog you may think the task of identifying the coat type is going to be difficult, not so.
Listed below are the six main categories into which a dogs coat type will fall, together with some well known examples of different sized dogs in each category: -
- Silky Coated
Yorkshire Terrier – Small
English Cocker Spaniel – Medium
English Setter – Large - Wire Coated
Border Terrier – Small
Irish Terrier – Medium
Airedale – Large - Curly Coated
Toy Poodle –Small
Belington Terrier – Medium
Standard Poodle – Large - Long Double Coated
Shi Tzu - Small
Tibetan Terrier - Medium
Old English sheepdog – Large - Dense Double Coated
Pomeranian – Small
Samoyed – Medium
St Bernard – Large - Short/Smooth Coated
Whippet – Small
Staffordshire Bull Terrier – Medium
Rhodesian Ridgeback – Large
Now all you have to do is to match your dogs coat with the characteristics of one of the dogs in the above list. Armed with this information and the comparative size of your dog, you will now easily be able to choose from the twelve available kits.
